대니 랜드는 누구입니까?................ marvel comics guy...

Iron Fist is an American  TV series  on the web  that has been trending lately....

It's series of episodes are on Netflix and it's got it's loyal followers...

I am not a movie  person..... I am not into drama.... be it American drama or K-drama or any other drama but strangely IRON FIST seems to call to me...

It beckons my curiosity and leaves me full of questions....

Not sure if because a close friend is hooked to it or it's my busybodiness that wants to check it out?

Here are my questions.....

1) Who is Danny Rand?

I know he is an only child.

I know that he lost his parents at a young age.

2) He lived in a monastery......what monastery? What happened to him there?

3) He seems to be the sole survivor of some catastrophe...... what catastrophe? Mass poisoning of a city of people?

4) Rand enterprise....... His father and mother owned Rand Enterprise before they died 15 years ago.

5) Who taught Danny Rand martial arts?

Most important question of all

6) Why is Danny Rand so determined to become IRON FIST? Why did he come back to New York City? Who is his avenging? He wants to reclaim Rand Enterprises from Harold Meachum and his wretched family ?

7) What is Danny Rand's motive?  His ultimate goal and destiny?

Note Danny Rand is not the only Iron Fist..... there are others

Hangul ~~ Off The Beaten Track...

Korean Conversation

Not Found in Textbooks~ The Real McCoy

For Foreigners by a foreigner

Part 1

Hi, My name is 인삼. I am not a Korean but I am interested in many things Korean.... Not necessarily bitten by the Korean Hallyu Wave but interested in the trueness of Korea itself....

The History, culture, people and particularly the language.

I have gone through my routes to immerse myself in Korean language and culture..

I have taken the textbook route. The textbook route is good in it's own way... it lays the foundation of the Korean Language like learning to read and write the alphabets etc but no matter how you try, there is always something that will be missing

The only way is to have real life conversations with Korean friends. I have a really good and close friend who I am grateful for the friendship and also the endless help and correction he tirelessly gives me. He is none other that the co editor of this blog that I am so priviledged and honored to share with him...

Anyway here are some things that I would like to share with you. Hope you find this useful  There's a lot of info but this is just a start..

1 ) 알겠어( 요 ) I got it..... I see.....

when you tell someone that you get his point!

2 ) 그거 너꺼야?   Is that yours?

asking someone if something belongs to them... in an informal friendly way

3 ) 어디 있지 (요)  Informally asking where is something? Maybe you lost something and need to find it..... usually for objects rather than a place.....

4 ) 좋겠어 (요 ) it has got to be good !

This has a slight wow factor .....when you want  to tell someone that something is  good!

5)모르겠는데 .... A more polite but very informal way of saying that you do not know..... or are not sure

6)어떤 거 ........which one?

Asking which one is the one

7)  됐어(요)..... Nevermind ..... forget it! .........

Be careful..... this can sound a bit rude if used harshly

8 ) 아무 거나 괜찮아........ Anything is ok.... no difference

For example, your friends ask you what you would like to eat for lunch today..?

You can answer " 아무 거나".......  meaning anything....... is ok

       아무 데나..... ㅡmeans anyplace....

To be continued.....Watch this space for part 2 etc

For starters I only give you a bit..

It"s enough for starters

I hope you practice this with your Korean friend........ NOT with your Grandma or  Seniors

Mine is friendly conversation...

Not too rude.... not too polite....

Just is!

till next time

Many people have always been fascinated with the Korean peninsula: from it's rich history that spans many centuries to
Korea in the modern day.
Korea has really evolved through a change in the ages to where it is today.

Whatever history Korea has been through, North and South has always been ethnically and culturally homogenous.
Even after the great divide, ie .... Korean War .... in 1950, North and South Korean, and many things always remain ...... and stays in the hearts of the people.

One aspect is surely the language. Apart from the dialects, the Korean language is more or less the same.

In this new millennium, there seems to be a renewed interest in Korea. Many eyes, ears and even hearts are tuned in South Korea.

This is not because of the Hallyu wave, which involves kpop and kdrama but many more factors.
South Korea is still pretty conservative but it has reinvented itself in a good way: South Korea is open to change and it's preserving it's roots and culture. It's becoming an oyster to the world ....

The world is getting smaller and changing with the immigration policies, Korea has an influx of foreigners who are interested in the Korean dream and so on.
South Korea has presented itself very well. It attracts people to her shores.

The Korean language uses the Hangul alphabet system ... In South Korea it is called Hangul, but in North Korea it is called "Choson Muntcha.

Before the 15th century, Korean people were basically using Chinese script which was great for Korean scholars but it was a bit difficult for ordinary people.

So in the 15th century a Korean King called King Sejong was the greatest decision to develop a new writing system. A writing system for the Korean people which was easier and clearer to use. He called it HUNMIN CHONGUM This is the first generation Korean Alphabet that became Hangul.
Hangul is not without it's critics ... Many Korean scholars still refuse to actually use Hangul until 1945, just before the Korean War. They still prefer to use Chinese script and writing system.

The Korean war in 1950 caused the great divide between North and South Korean saw some changes in Hangul.
Korean Orthography (as set by the Korean language society) in their "Proposal of Unifying Korean Orthography ..... is still used by North Korea and also south Korea after Korean liberation in 1945
But because of the new establishment of DPRK and RK (1948) North and South have different own policies.
North Korea wanted to emphasize Korean spelling .... the new ruling for korean orthography.

I can go on and on ....   and I can get some things about Korea, but I will take a break here as .... this is my first time as a blogger.  I am a blogger newbie ....

but there are more good things postings to come .....
Thank you for reading my humble writing

Yours sincerely
Ginseng  .. Co Editor on team blog
